Few wheels in the modern tuning era carry the same reverence as the Work Meister S1. Introduced by Work Wheels in the late 1990s, the Meister S1 blended Japanese engineering precision with modular construction and bespoke fitment; earning it cult status across the globe.
Most RWB non-Royal builds typically run a 13.0” rear with a -91 offset, making this -77 spec an uncommon and aggressive variation. It hints at a custom build philosophy; likely adjusted for ride height, camber, or body line nuance. Each RWB Porsche is built through an intimate one-on-one process with founder Akira Nakai, who crafts every widebody kit by hand. Unlike traditional tuning houses, there are no mass templates or one-size-fits-all molds; everything is bespoke. And because of that, no two RWB cars are ever truly identical.
The Work Meister S1 became a go-to for Nakai-san thanks to its signature 5-spoke design, durability, and flexibility in sizing. Available in 2-piece and 3-piece configurations, the wheel’s welded or bolted construction allowed for precise adjustments in both width and offset, which is a necessity when crafting around RWB’s exaggerated fender arches. The aggressive dish, visible hardware, and deep lips became synonymous with the brand’s aesthetic, balancing motorsport function with street-car bravado.
Beyond aesthetics, the wheels are extremely functional. Forged aluminum centers combined with spun outer barrels ensure lightweight strength and structural integrity. Designed to hold up under real driving conditions, often at speed and sideways. The S1’s roots can be traced to Japan’s touge and drift scene before being adopted by the global Porsche tuning community.
Today, the Work Meister S1 is as much an icon as the cars it supports. This particular set captures a moment in time when form, function, and individual expression collided.
